Additionally, the lines 'I heard a wheelchair whisper across a stale, stagnant gymnasium, Trailing an ivy league jacket like a matador, Through the jitterbug steps of the night before' eventually turned up on Fish's Fortunes of War, from his Suits album.
'I went to Morrison's grave at Pere Lachaise cemetery'
Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, is buried in Poet's Corner of the heavily gratified Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. Following the completion of recording on the Doors' final album, LA Woman, in March 1971, Morrison took a leave of absence from the band and moved to Paris with his long term partner Pamela Courson. On July 3rd 1971, Jim Morrison died.
The official account of his death says that he was found dead in his bath by Courson. Since there was no suggestion of foul play, in accordance with the standard French procedure of the day, there was no autopsy. Courson said that Morrison died after snorting heroin after a drinking session, but there are many other theories concerning Morrison's death, some credible, some outlandish.
'Would you drink to me next Beaujolais day?'
Beaujolais nouveau is a red wine made in the Beaujolais region, north of Lyon, France. The wine is made from Gamay grapes and is a vin de primeur, meaning it is fermented for just a few weeks before going on sale. Beaujolais Day is usually on the third Thursday of November.
To 'drink to someone' is to dedicate a toast to somebody, i.e. raise a glass citing the individual's name before drinking.
